The Kramer lab had a successful Botany 2020 conference which was held virtually from July 27th to July 31st.

Graduate student Molly has presented a talk "Genetic architecture of nectar spur traits in bee- and hummingbird-pollinated sister species of Aquilegia (columbine)" and a poster "Science IRL: a YouTube channel that's here to show you what being a scientist is like, in real life!"

Graduate student Minya has also presented a talk "I do not need a superman when I have a superwoman" and a poster "Understanding Floral Meristem Termination by Exploring Genetic Architecture Underlying Stamen Whorl Numbers in Aquilegia."

Our summer REU student, Andrea Appleton, presented a talk on "Patterns of Staminode Evolution in Paronychia (Caryophyllaceae)."

Minya and Stephanie Conway, also organized events in the Botany 2020 conference which was virtually from July 27th to July 31st. As the student rep of the Botanical Society of America, Minya organized the Careers in Botany Luncheon, SciComm Celebration Day and its mixer, a student networking social and a CV review session. She also put her artistic skills to use by creating flyers for the Career Luncheon, SciComm Celebration Day, and for a discussion panel co-moderated by Kramer postdoc, Stephanie Conway. Participating in the Career Luncheon and the job market discussion panel was Kramer alum, Anji Ballerini, who is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Sacramento State University in California.
