I am interested in the evolution of floral morphology, especially of novel morphological traits. I spent my undergrad at UMass Amherst studying evo-devo of the MADS Bax genes in maize and other grasses, and I am interested in the complex and unique architecture of the Aquilegia flower, how developmental changes contribute to the formation of this architecture, and how it has evolved within the context of ecology and genetics.
